Thank you for visiting my “Parent Help” resource page. Whether someone suggested this site or perhaps you simply stumbled upon it, it is nice to have visitors. I hope you find it informative and maybe even helpful. This site is new and will be under construction for … well, for as long as I am working for Indiana Area School District.
One of my favorite professional activities is talking with parents about their children. Truth be known I enjoy talking to parents because it gives me a chance to talk about my own children and my grandchild, Alivia. Imagine that, in less than two minutes I have already mentioned sweet little Alivia! Anyway, talking with parents all these years has been very rewarding and has helped me to be a better parent.
When talking with parents we usually get around to the struggles and challenges of parenting. Being a parent of three, grown, children and having talked with hundreds if not thousands of parents I have learned some things about families and kids. One thing I have learned is that I also need help on occasion and don’t have all the answers. So, I have worked hard to find out where to go for good information, thus, this resource page.
I have a simple objective for this website, which is to point parents in a specific direction for credible, helpful information. Why is this important, you might ask? Well, for one reason, you can get overwhelmed with all the information that is available. It is difficult to wade through the volumes of information available, and deciding where to focus your attention. Also, there is a lot of “trash” out there. That’s right, I said trash and that is putting it mildly. So … I’m building this resource page! These are sites that I have referred to and have recommended to others. I hope you find them helpful. Wait! Don’t you see that caution sign?
A word of caution - as you know “surfing” the web can take you places that you or I never intended to visit. I’ve explored the sites that I’m recommending but I know that these sites can lead to other sites, which can lead to other sites that I have not checked out. Once you get off the recommended “beaten path” I cannot vouch nor endorse what you may be reading. Please, be careful where you go! My Internet expert friends have recommended that all home computers should have some type of filter (or whatever else they are called). If you run into anything offensive, outdated, or confusing, please contact me so that I can make changes. Also, if you have a site that you would like me to check out for inclusion here, then, please pass it along.
One other caution - sometimes parents will recommend to their children or teens to visit some of the sites I have recommended. The only thing I ask of you is that you “check it out” first. I believe it is important for you to know what your children are reading. You may also want to talk with them about what they read.
Once again, thanks for visiting. I am excited to share with you some of my favorite Internet websites. So, if you are ready and want to see what I am recommending then click HERE.
