August 31, 2020
Dear Eisenhower Families:
We are excited to have you return to school for the 2020-2021 school year and are grateful that you have been patient with us as we navigate these uncharted waters. Our goal is to create a safe, caring, and supportive environment for your child. This will be the first of several communications that you will receive, either from Eisenhower Elementary School or Indiana Area School District this week. I apologize for the volume of letters, emails etc., but we want to make sure that we communicate with you.
Our Health and Safety Plan
Please review the IASD Health and Safety Plan which is posted on our IASD website under the reopening section. Reopening Schools 2020-21 – Reopening of Schools. As previously communicated we need everyone to wear masks and social distance while at school. If you are unable to provide your child with a mask, please contact your child’s school and face-coverings will be provided. Each school has built-in mask breaks, and you can view these site-specific procedures by visiting our Health and Safety Plan via our District website.(link above).
A few reminders for our students and families:
*Eisenhower’s doors will open at 8:30am for morning arrivals.
*Please help your child remember his or her facemask daily. If your child loses or forgets the face mask we have masks ready to go for your child! We will ensure we communicate with you when this happens.
*If you are dropping off your child daily, please pull up to the entrance on Wine Avenue and pull the whole way down the street and there will be several people there. Someone will come to your car to temperature check/ symptom check your child before exiting your car. Please allow for a team member to check your child before exiting your vehicle. If your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more they will not be allowed to enter the school building and you will be asked to take them home. Eisenhower doors will open at 8:30 am.
*If your child is walking to school, please encourage your child to arrive at school no earlier than 8:30am. This is to ensure safety for all as supervision will not be present before this time.
*Bus Riders will enter the bus with a mask covering their nose and mouth. Buses will also have extra masks available in case a student forgot his or her mask or damaged it while waiting for the bus. Once your child’s bus arrives at Eisenhower, students will have their temperatures checked before exiting the bus at 8:30am.
*If any student is showing a temperature above 100 degrees or symptoms of COVID, we have a calming, private space for the student to be supervised and cared for until a parent or guardian can arrive to pick up the student. Our procedures are designed to maintain privacy and caring to students and families during this process.
*We are providing all school materials for students. Every student has a personal plastic box to store his or her materials for school. Please do not send supplies from home. Students will have glue sticks, pencils, crayons etc. We are trying to keep the touching and transfer of materials to a minimum and appreciate your cooperation with this.
* Students may bring their own lunch in a lunchbox or paper bag. We are asking that the students bring a backpack/bookbag daily with their lunch (if packing) and their chromebook. Please don’t send items from home such as toys, pencil cases etc. Again, we are trying to keep down the transfer of materials and germs between home and school.
* Students will be getting a chromebook which will go to and from school daily. Please help your child charge his or her chromebook nightly. Please keep the charger with the chromebook so that it is always available when needed.

School Counselor News!
Hi, my name is Mrs. O’Barto, I am the School Counselor at Eisenhower Elementary.
I would like to send out a huge “Welcome Back to all our students” (traditional, synchronous, & asynchronous)
I understand that school may look quite different this year and I want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to take care of yourself. I know that academics are important, but as the school counselor I want to make sure that you focus on your health as one of your top priorities. Make time for yourself and reach out if you are feeling stressed or need support around balancing your academics with your personal needs.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
