Eisenhower Sept 4th Letter to Families

September  4, 2020

Dear Eisenhower Families:

We are excited to have you return to school for the 2020-2021 school year and are grateful that you have been patient with us as we navigate these uncharted waters.  I just wanted to further explain some of our new procedures, and provide you with an additional resource.   I apologize for the volume of letters, emails etc., but we want to make sure that we communicate with you.

Our Health and Safety Plan

Please review the IASD Health and Safety Plan which is posted on our IASD website under the reopening section. Reopening Schools 2020-21 – Reopening of SchoolsAs previously communicated, we need everyone to wear masks and social distance while at school. If you are unable to provide your child with a mask, please contact your child’s school and face-coverings will be provided. Each school has built-in mask breaks, and you can view these site-specific procedures by visiting our Health and Safety Plan via our District website (link above).

I have added a video to the district webpage that explains some of the basic procedures for Eisenhower Elementary school.  The link can be found on the IASD website or by following this link:  https://youtu.be/rEFW30177fg

A few reminders for our students and families:

  •  Dismissal

Car Pick-ups

We will follow a similar procedure for dismissal as we have in years past.  Students will begin being dismissed at 3:45 p.m., and all students must be picked up by 4:05 p.m.  We ask that you pull up on Wine Avenue and form a line there.  Someone from the school will come out to the car, ask you who you're picking up, and then check it with our records.  You must send a written note in with your student telling us you will be picking them up.  For students who are permanent car pickups, a single note stating that the student will be picked up daily is needed.

    Buses

Students riding the bus will be dismissed between 3:45 and 4:05 p.m. You should have received your child’s bus times etc. via the mail last week.  If you have any questions regarding bus numbers, times, pick up locations, etc. Please call the transportation department at 724 463 7591.

  • Early Dismissal

We recognize that sometimes you will need to have your child dismissed early for a doctor’s appointment etc. Please send a written note letting us know when you will be picking your child up and please follow up with sending a written note from the doctor regarding the absence.

If you need to pick up your child  during the school day, we are using the following procedures:

  • Please send a written note into school on the day of the early dismissal letting us know when you will be picking your child up and the reason for the early excusal.
  • When you arrive, please come to the main entrance.
  • Please buzz the office, and let the secretary know the name of your child and that you are picking them up for an early dismissal.
  • Then, your child will be called from their classroom and the student will come to the door.
  • Please follow up by sending a written note from the doctor regarding the absence.

We know there may be questions as you prepare your child for learning this school year and we are here to help.  Our phone number is 724-463-8566.  I will be sending out more information regarding school procedures etc. on Friday, September 4, 2020.  Thank you for being a part of our learning community, no matter if you chose the Traditional Model, IDEAL, or Synchronous Learning!  Looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.

Sincerely,

Erin Eisenman

Eisenhower Principal
