May 26, 2021
Dear IHS Families,
You received this letter to inform you that we need to change our schedule of in-school attendance to a full day of remote learning on Thursday, May 27. The reason is that we are currently at 2 cases of Covid-19 at the senior high school with over 40 students/staff quarantined. Quarantined individuals are in the process of being tested to allow for an earlier return to school.
Should we receive reports of additional cases tomorrow that makes our case total at least 4 students/staff, we would have to close school on Friday. The closure could affect all extracurricular activities on Friday including IHS Senior Prom.
Thursday, May 27, will be a full-time synchronous day of instruction for our students. The schedule will be similar to the learning schedule followed on days of recent Keystone Exams. Students will follow their regular school schedule except instruction will occur virtually tomorrow.
**Social Studies and World Languages Finals – final exams/activities will be provided virtually to students.
**ICTC Graduation – the event will be held at its regular time at 6:30 p.m. at Penns Manor High School. The voluntary closure of school tomorrow will not have any effect on IHS ICTC student participation at the ceremony.
**National Honor Society Induction – the activity will be moved to Tuesday, June 1, for seniors who will be inducted into National Honor Society. The event will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the senior high school.
Friday, May 28, will be a regular remote day of instruction for students. The school day will end at 11:56 a.m. for students as regularly scheduled.
We apologize for the very late notice and any inconvenience caused. Please know that we have been closely monitoring the situation and are in communications with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to make the best possible informed decision. We want to ensure that our seniors have the greatest opportunity to have their only IHS Senior Prom. We ask for your understanding and thank you for your support for our students.
Sincerely,
Wade McElheny
Principal
