Threat made at IHS

April 28,2022

Dear Families,

On Thursday afternoon, the Senior High administration was made aware of a school threat written on a bathroom wall that included racially insensitive comments. The administration is currently reviewing the surveillance video and will conduct a thorough investigation that will include interviews with students regarding the matter. Regardless of the ambiguity of the threat, the administration contacted the Pennsylvania State Police to assist us in the investigation. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, a team of police handlers and their K-9 dogs conducted a sweep of the entire building on Thursday evening and determined the building to be safe and secure. The police will be present at IHS tomorrow to provide additional safety and security.

I am extremely grateful for the leadership and support displayed by the State Police in efforts to keep our students, staff, and schools safe. IASD’s Safety Director responded quickly to work with the administration on the matter as well. Again, no evidence was found that this threat was credible. Our actions are being conducted out of an abundance of caution. Please know that the administration will continue to investigate the matter and enforce the code of conduct to the highest degree possible.

Please contact the Senior High Administration and/or our Safety Director, Mike Travis, if you have any questions.  As always, all of our buildings will be alert and aware.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

Superintendent of Schools
