Twenty-two students from Eisenhower Elementary and Horace Mann Elementary participated in the 4th/5th grade division of the 2024 PA STEM Design Challenge. This year students were challenged to help Pennsylvania farmers by creating an agricultural robot or other type of “high-tech farming” equipment that they could use. Teams of 2-4 students worked together on projects from identifying a problem to building a prototype of their invention using K’Nex. Teams were required to keep track of their work with a design notebook and present a 2-minute pitch to the judges who based their scoring on creativity, teamwork, challenge success, design, and presentation. One Indiana team of 4th graders earned Honorable Mention for their invention, the Egg Specialist, a modern machine for safely collecting eggs so the farmer does not have to. Congratulations to (L to R in photo) Grant Rosendale, Avery Schneider, and Ezra Morschhauser for earning this recognition.
