The Indiana Area School District and the Indiana Area Junior High School community are excited to host the 4th annual Southwest PA Combat Bots League competition, which will occur on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Indiana Junior High School and will be, once again, live streamed on YouTube.
The program advisors, Mr. Michael Dolges and Mr. Scott Herrington, would like to thank the generous sponsors that are helping to make this unique program a success.
Among them are the Spadafora Family Fund with a $5,000 contribution and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board with a donation of $3,000, in addition to several others including Miller Fabrication, National Additive Manufacturing Institute, Liberty Steel and Wire, Sobek Fitness, State Farm Insurance-Jen Hoffman Agent and Mr. Nicholas Cordial and Family so far this year. Support for the robotics program also comes through EITC donations from S&T Bank and First Commonwealth Bank.
Building on the success of the Junior High Combat Bots program, the Indiana Area Senior High School has developed a new full-year elective course for grades 9-12 that will expose students to different elements of robotics, including designing, manufacturing and competing against other student combat robot teams in the BotsIQ League. The course was approved last night by the IASD Board of School Directors.
